GoPro announces Karma – foldable drone

Few days ago GoPro has unveiled Karma, first drone by GoPro company. Karma belongs to high end drone group and it’s priced according to that. Drone alone costs $799 but if you want GoPro camera included then you’ll have to pay extra. Cool thing is GoPro didn’t limit themselves to drone only, instead they decided to support you on all your outdoor activities. Because of that, Karma drone comes with detachable camera stabilizer that can be used to make handheld shots more steady. Backpack that’s coming with Karma is optimised for both Karma drone and detachable camera stabilizer. Check out video below and you’ll get idea of what I’m talking about.

GoPro Karma is compatible with 3 GoPro cameras : GoPro Hero 5, GoPro Hero 5 Session and GoPro Hero 4. Two Hero 5 cameras were announced at the same time when GoPro Karma. Those are latest products from GoPro, and from what we can see for now products are very advanced.

Transmitter is story for itself. Concept of transmitter is very simple and user friendly. It reminds me on old phones where you had to fold/unfold keyboard. GoPro took it step forward and built flight simulator so you can pick up some basic flying concepts before actually flying drone. I believe that will reduce number of beginners crashing their drones. Who the hell wants to play with $1000 drone? There’s also another cool thing about GoPro Karma and it’s software part. GoPro engineers created Passanger app, that app is used to see camera live stream or even control camera while you’re controling drone using transmitter. It’s ideal for showing off in the front of your friends I guess 🙂

So, how do you like this new drone? Keep in mind this is first drone from GoPro company. To be honest, I like it very much. I can’t wait to see how it’s compared to DJI Mavic. If you didn’t hear about DJI Mavic, don’t worry because we’ll be talking about it soon! It’s latest drone from DJI company. We compare it to Karma because it’s foldable too. More about that – soon!
